Some time ago I used to think that DVD was just a flash in the pan and that it would never catch on, I was sure as hell never going to buy one, well I was mistaken, its a great toy, I've always been known as a bit of a geek and lets face it, geeks love toys.
This is a bit of a strange story, how I came to buy the DVD Player that I did, I was given a flyer for the thing, it kinda interested me, so I decided that I was going to find out about it, It was a brand I'd never heard of before "HiTeker" (gotta love these little Chinese companies).
So I hopped onto the net and started searching, it turned out that HiTeker was just a rebadged Apex (another brand I'd never heard of) and that this player was a bit special (in addition to being very cheap).
It transpired that this little unit could play MP3s burnt onto CD-ROMS, it was possible to change the region just with a few button presses of the remote and you could turn all sorts of things off. Neat, I was sold.
You can find out more about the unit from the links.
Well the hardware isn't much use without any software is it .....
I'd prefer R2 or R4 to R1 (PAL vs NTSC formatting) so thats why I don't have some of these yet.
